Canvas X is a software which is developed by Canvas GFX, and it was released first way back in November 1987. It is software that focuses on publishing, imaging, and drawing, and it is made to be used with PCs or laptops. Canvas X is compatible with Windows 7 or later. The original idea for the software originated from Jorge Miranda back in 1987, who was also the founder of Deneba Systems Inc., based in Miami, Florida. It was developed for Apple's Macintosh as a wave of applications that brought about a desktop publishing and using revolution.

The software's first version was different and somewhat unique from the other software in the market, and this was because it was released both as a desktop accessory and as an application in the market. When it was first released, Canvas X was used or preferred as a desktop accessory which allows its users to do multitasking as the time when a single program operation was prevailing. This was one of the few software which allows the user to use another software while being used as a desktop accessory.
